Accounting for a dormant Estonian company: prices compared
Accounting for a dormant Estonian company costs from 240 EUR a year with us, and from 612 EUR a year on the next cheapest published plan, excluding VAT. A company with no activity still files an annual report, so the useful comparison is the full year with the report included. This page compares the published prices of 9 providers.
About this comparison
This page is written by SPATIAL EYE OÜ, an Estonian accounting firm and one of the providers compared. To keep it fair, every price comes from the firm's own website or from its listing on the e-Residency marketplace, the provider directory of the Estonian e-Residency programme. Where a firm publishes no price, we write "price on request" and do not guess.
Brand names belong to their owners and are used here only to identify each firm. We are not connected to any of them. Prices were checked on 28 October 2026 and can change, so please confirm on the linked page before you decide. If a figure has changed, write to timoffei@spatial-eye-finance.com and we will correct it.
What does a dormant company still have to file?
A dormant company still files an annual report every year. In Estonia it is due six months after the financial year ends, so by 30 June for a calendar year. The report is short, but the deadline is the same as for an active company.
- Annual report: always, even with no revenue and no bank movements.
- VAT returns: every month while the company keeps its VAT number, even when there is nothing to report. Deregistering from VAT ends this.
- Payroll tax return (TSD): only in a month when a salary or board member fee is paid.
- Books: every payment in or out still needs a document, including bank fees.
Missing the report can lead to fines and, after about three months, to deletion proceedings. Our article on what a dormant company has to do explains the rules in more detail.
What does a dormant company cost a year?
On published prices, a dormant company without a VAT number costs from 240 EUR to over 1,600 EUR a year, excluding VAT. The table uses the cheapest plan each firm publishes for this case, for twelve months, with the annual report added where it is extra.
| Provider | Plan | Per month | Year, excluding VAT | Annual report |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SPATIAL EYE | Micro | 20 EUR | 240 EUR | Included |
| Enty | Annual reporting | 51 EUR | 612 EUR | Included |
| Xolo | Starter | 59 EUR | 708 EUR | Included |
| E-Residency Hub | Micro | 59 EUR | 708 EUR | Included |
| e-Resident Store (Sunio) | Lite | 59 EUR | 708 EUR | Included |
| Accountex | Up to 10 documents | 72 EUR | 864 EUR | Ask the provider |
| Eesti Firma | Without VAT number | From 75 EUR | From 1,050 EUR | From 150 EUR, counted |
| Companio | PRO | From 89 EUR | From 1,318 EUR | 250 EUR, counted |
| 1Office | Minimum fee | 135 EUR | From 1,620 EUR | Ask the provider |
Xolo Starter applies for the first 12 months or up to 4,000 EUR of revenue. Enty counts invoices and bills per year on this plan. E-Residency Hub and Companio include a legal address and contact person in the price.
Are there cheaper ways to keep a dormant company?
Some providers sell a package without an accountant. E-Residency Hub lists an Ultralight package at 15 EUR a month, and Unicount a software plan at 29 EUR a month. With these you keep the records yourself, and the annual report is not part of the price.
Filing the report yourself is possible in the e-Business Register, the online portal for company filings. It suits owners who are comfortable with a balance sheet. If you would rather not, our standalone annual report starts at 190 EUR.
What changes the price for a dormant company?
- A VAT number. Monthly VAT returns move the company to a VAT plan. Our Micro VAT plan costs 45 EUR a month.
- A board member fee. Any payment needs a payroll tax return that month.
- Old gaps. Missing reports for past years are quoted separately as catch-up work.
- An address and contact person. Needed if no board member lives in Estonia, and priced separately unless the plan includes them.
Should you keep a dormant company or close it?
Keeping a quiet company costs the yearly accounting fee plus the time to sign the report. Closing it ends the yearly reports for good. If you have no plans for the company, compare a year or two of fees with the cost of a voluntary liquidation.
We help with both. For a company you keep, the Micro plan covers the books and the annual report. For a company you close, see our catch-up bookkeeping service if reports are missing first.
